Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant
Client
CCC Group, Inc.
Description
Gaines is working with the CCC Group and Progress Energy to replace over 6500 LF of 48” fused HDPE pipe for the blow down cooling tower line for this nuclear power plant. Great care has been used to prevent any damage to the existing line because the majority of this work was done while the plant was operational.
In October 2010, Gaines played a critical role in the shut down of the plant because they had to tie in both ends of this new line to the existing line in a short time window working around the clock while coordinating our efforts with the many other contractors responsible for the plant shut down.
All Gaines employees have had to undergone exhaustive back ground checks and safety training to meet the stringent requirements that Progress Energy has for all its nuclear facilities.
During construction we had a visit from OSHA and when the inspector left he apologized for wasting our time. Our completion schedule was so tight that we never stopped working even with the OSHA inspector on site interviewing our workers
