Pond Conversions Marks Development’s Final Stages

The pond conversion at The Highlands transforms the temporary sediment basin into a permanent stormwater management system, enhancing the development’s approach to environmental responsibility.
The Highlands project is nearing its final stages of development as Gaines and Company’s pond conversion activities progress.

This Koch Homes development in Glen Burnie, Maryland, consists of over 150 townhouses. It has been under development for around two years. Once we finish converting the pond, final paving activities can begin, and the development will be turned over to the county.
The pond conversion at The Highlands involves transforming the temporary sediment basin into a permanent stormwater management system that will continue bringing environmental benefits to the development for years to come.

“When pumping water out of a pond, ground conditions and weather are always a challenge,” said Safety Director Dominic Pope. “[Gaines’s] Jason Glancy and his team – with Matt Hobbs leading the work – are doing a fantastic job working safely and with the high-level of quality that customers expect on a Gaines project. We are proud of the work they are doing!”
