Safety Director Represents Gaines on NCI Board

A strong safety program isn’t just a couple safety-related ideas jotted into a document. It’s having exceptional safety standards and expectations entwined into every aspect of the business, and every aspect of the business entwined in safety. That’s why Gaines and Company is excited to have its own safety director on the National Contractors Insurance board.

National Contractors Insurance Ltd. (NCI) is a contractor-based insurance captive that offers members coverage at a more affordable cost. How do they manage these costs? Well, money that isn’t used over the year is invested in a fund, which is then distributed back to members. The success of the captive depends on members – currently over 280 members with varying levels of risk – meeting the highest standards of excellence.

The captive is very selective about who joins. Members must meet or exceed rigorous criteria to uphold the highest quality insurance protection. To maintain these expectations, the captive offers an array of health and safety enhancing opportunities – including webinars, conferences, trainings, and risk control seminars.

Gaines and Company’s Safety Director Dominic Pope was nominated for the NCI board in January 2024. He was officially voted onto the 14-person board in August.

“Gaines has been a member of NCI since 2010, and Dominic has been representing Gaines at NCI events since he came to our company 12 years ago,” said Gaines and Company Vice President David Gaines. “We are thrilled that he was elected to the NCI board to take our involvement to the next level.”

In his role as Member at Large, Dominic is responsible for explaining how a captive works to new members. He is also required to participate in NCI trainings, meetings and seminars – including two risk seminars every year.

“By having Dominic on the NCI board, we are able to optimize the safety-enhancing benefits that the captive offers, continually making our business safer for our employees and companies we serve,” added David.
