Gaines’s Steve Silverberg Awarded MMTA’s Driver of the Month

Steve safely and efficiently drives roughly 300 miles every day in this truck, no matter what weather he experiences or terrain he must cross.
Could you drive roughly 300 miles per day while hauling 125,000-pound equipment in various road conditions and terrains for eight years straight and not get into an at-fault incident? Gaines and Company’s Steve Silverberg can – and did – earning him Maryland Motor Truck Association (MMTA)’s Driver of the Month.

Steve was presented his award by Maryland State Police Trooper Derrick Peck (left) and MMTA Chairman of the Board Scott Pauchnik (right).
“Steve’s work is intricate, and he is on the road all day long. Despite this, his performance is impeccable,” said Safety Director Dominic Pope. “He consistently demonstrates exceptional professionalism, safety, and dedication to excellence on and off the road.”

At an awards banquet on February 12, Steve was recognized by MMTA— Maryland’s elite motor truck association for advocacy, education, and regulatory assistance. They honored his exemplary safety record, strong judgment, adherence to regulations, and commitment to safe driving practices, which includes his exceptional diligence to daily vehicle inspections, safe route planning, and proactive reporting.
Steve, who carries his CDL and HAZMAT certification, has been with Gaines for eight years, but he has a total of 18 years of driving experience throughout his career.
“I frequently get positive feedback about Steve from our customers for being courtesy, helpful, and professional,” said Technical Equipment Support Specialist Brandy Smith. “He understands that every interaction with customers reflects our organization, and his commitment to exceptional service has strengthened our reputation.”

Steve’s fiancé was in attendance to congratulate Steve on his significant achievement.
When not at work, Steve still puts his driving skills to the test. He enjoys off-roading and 4-wheeling, as well as snowboarding and spending time outdoors.
“Whether facing challenging routes, tight schedules, or unexpected obstacles, Steve handles each situation with grace, skill, and dedication. His work ethic and positive approach exemplify what this award represents,” said Brandy.
“Steve is a true leader within the company when it comes to safe driving. He’s adamant about taking the time to train new drivers and is the kindest guy you’ll ever meet,” added Dominic. “He’s a key member of our team and a great example for others.”
