Grading Crew Operator Recognized with Safety Award

An organization cannot achieve this kind of success without skilled crew members that routinely go above and beyond, like Luis Rodriguez. Luis was recognized with Gaines and Company’s quarterly Safety Excellence Achievement Award for his attention to processes and responsibilities, including his commitment to keeping the entire job site safe.

Luis Rodriguez has been an equipment operator at Gaines and Company’s North Carolina location for one year. In this role, he is responsible for the safe operation of heavy equipment, including making sure that personnel throughout the job site stay safe. He confirms job site conditions are adequate and equipment is in safe, working condition prior to operation. But he takes those responsibilities even further.

Luis’s foreman, Randall Hedrick, said, “Luis takes responsibility for performing daily equipment safety inspections. But he doesn’t just make sure boxes are ticked. He goes the extra step by looking ahead to ensure his crew has everything needed to complete their work safely and get the job done right the first time.”

Safety Director Dominic Pope, added, “Luis is always looking out for everyone on the job site. He ensures everyone is working safely and promptly addresses safety concerns. By looking out for the entire crew and speaking up when needed, he promotes the positive safety culture that Gaines and Company prioritizes.”

 Luis was awarded a Safety Excellence Achievement Award certificate, exclusive award recipient hat, and $150 in safety bucks to use on gear on the company’s online safety store. He is also in the running for the 2022 Safety Excellence Achievement Award, which will be awarded at the end of the year.
