Maryland Quarterly Safety Award – Third Quarter 2020

Each quarter, Gaines and Company, a full-service site development organization, awards one team member in both their Maryland and North Carolina locations the Safety Excellence Achievement Award. This award is an element of the organization’s robust Safety Excellence Program, which takes an engaged and proactive approach to ensure the safety of all employees. Winners of the Safety Excellence Achievement Award are nominated for their outstanding dedication to the overall safety of the organization.

Aubrey Wagner – a 27-year Gaines and Company employee – was awarded the Maryland office’s third quarter 2020 Safety Excellence Achievement Award for his dedication and commitment to safety.

Aubrey is a senior mainline co-operator. Throughout his tenure at Gaines and Company, he has served in various roles, including site foreman. His experience and knowledge of safe work practices ensures not only his safety, but safety throughout the entire job site.

“Aubrey is like the quarterback. He keeps the play going,” said Gary Collins, Aubrey’s foreman, who nominated him for the award. “Our work can be dangerous work. But because of his experience, he can spot a bad situation before it happens.”

“Aubrey has seen it all and done it all. When he comes to a situation he’s never done before, he overcomes it,” said Dominic Pope, Safety Director. “Not only does he bring a vast amount of knowledge to the table, but he is also always looking steps and steps ahead to ensure the safety of everyone on site.”

In addition to his job-specific training, Aubrey has also successfully completed Competent Person Training, OSHA 10, Confined Space Training, and received his Heavy Equipment Operator certification.

“Aubrey is always looking out for everybody,” added Dominic. “He is very good at what he does. I’d say he is one of the best operators in the business.”

Gary agreed, “The harder the work, the more he likes it. He is certainly one of the best operators— hands down.”

Aubrey was presented a Safety Excellence Award certificate, $150 in safety bucks to redeem in the Gaines and Company online safety store, and an exclusive safety award hat. He is now in competition for the year-end 2020 Safety Excellence Award.
