Gaines and Company, a site developer with offices in Maryland and North Carolina established the Safety Excellence Award to recognize workers that do more than simply abide by safety regulations, but are also safety leaders on the job site. As the safety program’s inaugural year concluded, Jose Recinos was recognized as the Maryland office 2018 Gaines and Company Safety Excellence Award recipient.
Laborer Jose Recinos joined Gaines and Company in September 2015. Since joining the company, he has continually demonstrated safety leadership through his underground utility construction work, as well as his dedication to the safety of his crew members.
“Jose is an all-around, prime example of what it means to be dedicated to safety,” said Dominic Pope, safety director. “He immediately reports damaged equipment and safety issues, wears proper PPE, and ensures that the entire crew is always working safely.”
A quarterly Safety Excellence Award is presented at each of the two Gaines and Company locations. From those awardees, one recipient is selected per location for the year-end Safety Excellence Award.
Award criteria include demonstrating a strong commitment to safety, recognizing and reporting hazards, and remaining in good standing with the foreman or customer. Award recipients were chosen not only by upper management, foremen, and superintendents, but also peers.
Upon recognition, Recinos was awarded a gift card, as well as $100 worth of points to use on the company safety incentive website.
