Gaines and Company’s Damaso Santos Recognized for Keeping Team Safe

North Carolina Quarterly Safety Award – 1st Quarter 2021

Gaines and Company’s site development work requires its workforce to operate as a team to successful deliver projects while keeping each other safe at all times. Damaso Santos was recently recognized for his clear commitment to workplace safety, keeping not just himself out of harm’s way, but also those on his team and throughout the jobsite.

“Gaines and Company values the safety of everyone throughout our jobsites. In order to ensure this level of safety, we need workers to watch out for each other at all times,” said Safety Director Dominic Pope. “The Gaines and Company quarterly Safety Excellence Award recognizes employees who go above and beyond in doing just that— making sure everyone returns home safety at the end of each day.”

“Damaso always thoroughly checks the equipment he operates, cleans up around the jobsite, and is always a second set of eyes for his team,” said Damaso’s foreman, Thomas Bradsher. “He makes sure that everyone is safe at all times.”

Damaso is a Heavy Equipment Operator for Gaines and Company, and is responsible for operating and handling heavy equipment. He has been with the organization for six months and is trained in Heavy Equipment operation.

He was recognized for this achievement with a Safety Excellence Award certificate, as well as $150 in safety bucks to use on gear in the company’s online safety store. Additionally, Damaso will be considered for the year-end 2021 Safety Excellence Award.
