Maryland Utility Crew Receives Safety Honor
Foreman Will Griffin, Victor Rivera, Luis Martinez, and Jose Guerra
It’s not every day you come across a construction crew filled with stand-out employees. But in the case of one Utility crew in Maryland, employees feed off each other, build each other up, and make one another better every day. Especially when it comes to safety, these are some of the best in the region!
Will Griffin – who was recently promoted to Utility Foreman – couldn’t choose just one of his guys to nominate for Gaines and Company’s quarterly Safety Excellence Achievement Award. In fact, he couldn’t even narrow it down to two. Instead, he chose three of his workers to receive this recognition: Jose Guerra, Luis Martinez, and Victor Rivera.
“When our team reviewed all Safety Award nominations, we couldn’t single any of these guys out. They are all fantastic employees who really go above and beyond for safety. So, for the time, we recognized three employees from the same crew,” said Safety Director Dominic Pope.
Will Griffin is no stranger to this award. He was recognized in 2019 for never being afraid to jump in and show others how to do the job safely. This work mentality clearly carried over into his role as foreman, again leading by example.
“These are my go-to guys,” said Will. “They are all dedicated to safety – safety for the project, safety in their work, and safety toward each other.”
“It’s employees like Jose, Luis, and Victor – led by Will, a fantastic leader – who give Gaines the industry-leading reputation we have in this region. We are grateful for their dedication to their work and are happy to see this safety mentality continue to spread throughout our organization,” added Dominic.
