Gaines and Company’s Jose Melara Recognized for Displaying Safety Confidence

Full-service site development company – Gaines and Company – not only practices safety throughout its Maryland and North Carolina locations, but also values safety as a core element of success. Every quarter, employees are recognized at each of the Gaines and Company locations for outstanding dedication and display of safe work practices. Jose Melara was awarded Gaines and Company’s Maryland location Safety Excellence Award for the second quarter of 2020.

In the just two years that Jose has been with Gaines and Company, he has consistently displayed the strong dedication to safety that the organization values. His diligent attention to safety does not stop as his own work, but extends to ensure safe work practices of those he works with.

“He’s really good with working with new people,” said Safety Director Dominic Pope. “He speaks up when he needs to and goes above and beyond to make sure everyone he works around is safe.”

Jose’s foreman, Dave Collins, nominated him for his outstanding safety achievements.

“Jose always makes his safety, as well as everyone else’s safety, a high priority during all work tasks. Sometimes it can be as simple as handing someone ear plugs before they jackhammer, or as crucial as checking air in sewer manholes.” Dave added, “I can always count on Jose to speak up and address possible safety issues.”

Jose was presented a certificate, exclusive Safety Excellence Awardee hat, imprinted Gaines and Company cup, and $150 in safety bucks to use on gear in the company’s online safety store. Jose will compete against all other quarterly awardees for the year-end 2020 Safety Excellence Award.
