Gaines and Company Awards Laborer with Safety Excellence Achievement Award

The Gaines and Company Safety Excellence Achievement Award is an employee recognition program that not only recognizes employees for safe, quality work, but also an outstanding commitment to team health and safety. Winners are employees who enhance the limits of the organization’s robust safety culture, keeping Gaines and Company job sites safe places to work. The Safety Excellence Achievement Award is presented to employees in both Gaines and Company’s Maryland and North Carolina locations just four times a year. At the end of 2022’s first quarter, North Carolina’s Timothy Glasgow was recognized with this award for consistently performing hazard assessments prior to work.

Gaines and Company’s turn-key site development services include preconstruction engineering assessments, underground utility installations, grading and excavations, storm water management, road work, and federal installations. None of this work can be completed without the work of laborers like Timothy Glasgow.

Timothy is responsible for ensuring that the job site, tools, and machinery are clean and prepared for work. This includes setting up and taking down scaffolding and safety structures, backfilling work areas, and loading and unloading equipment. Successful laborers must work with a constant regard to safety, always looking out for potential hazards that must be addressed prior to the continuation of work.

“A huge part of Timothy’s work is focused on safety,” said Gaines and Company Safety Director Dominic Pope. “I know I can always count on him to ensure the safety of the entire crew, because he won’t let work begin unless he is sure it can be performed safely.”

Timothy has worked for Gaines and Company for four years, and is qualified in OSHA 10 and Excavation Safety.

“Timothy is always the first to bring safety issues to my attention,” said Timothy’s foreman Max Ramirez, who nominated him for the award. “He thoroughly inspects safety equipment and takes it out of service if a potential hazard is present.”

Timothy was awarded a personalized Safety Excellence Achievement Award certificate, exclusive award recipient hat, and $150 in safety bucks to use on gear on the company’s online safety store. He is also in the running for the 2022 Safety Excellence Award, which will be awarded at the end of the year.
