Gaines and Company Operator Recognized for Adamant Commitment to Safe Work

Gaines and Company knows that performing turn-key site development services is not easy. Even after successfully delivering decades of industry-leading grading and excavating services, the company consistently looks for new ways to be safer and more efficient while still delivering quality and reliable services that its customers trust. Throughout their last 70 years, safety has remained a top priority and recognized as such throughout the organization – from leadership to field crews. Gaines and Company recently recognized this commitment by awarding Wilfredo Martinez the Safety Excellence Achievement Award.

The Safety Excellence Achievement Award recognizes Gaines and Company employees who display a relentless dedication to personal and team safety. It is awarded to recipients in Gaines and Company’s Maryland and North Carolina locations on a quarterly basis.

Wilfredo Martinez is a heavy equipment operator. In this role, he is responsible for operating and handling heavy equipment. This goes beyond performing quality work, but also ensuring safety while using the equipment. Wilfredo was nominated for the Safety Excellence Achievement Award by his supervisor, Jeremy “Hoss” Henry, for his adamant safety performance throughout his three years with Gaines, including always inspecting his equipment.

“Wilfredo is a top-notch employee that is always going the extra mile – checking equipment, helping with new guys, and looking ahead to keep everyone safe,” said Safety Director Dominic Pope. “Regardless of site conditions, he operates in a safe and productive manner. He’s a very dependable worker.”

Martinez was awarded a Safety Excellence Achievement Award certificate, exclusive award recipient hat, and $150 in safety bucks to use on gear on the company’s online safety store. He is now in the running for the 2021 year-end Safety Excellence Achievement Award, along with all 2021 recipients in both Gaines and Company’s Maryland and North Carolina locations.
