Gaines and Company Employee Recognized for Maintaining a Safe Work Environment

Maryland Quarterly Safety Award – 2ND Quarter 2021

With a nearly 70-year reputation of safe, quality site development expertise and delivery, Gaines and Company understands the significance of maintaining a unified safety culture. This mission extends beyond company management, policies, and procedures. Successful workplace safety is rooted in employees – both in the office and on site – to continuously look out for one another. Gaines and Company recognized Maryland employee Marvin Martinez with the quarterly Safety Excellence Award for always maintaining a safe work environment.

Gaines and Company delivers grading and excavation services to customers in Maryland, North Carolina, Washington D.C. and Delaware. Working alongside developers, municipalities, homebuilders, commercial builders, military installations, nuclear power plants, and government agencies, Gaines and Company employees must always be aware of their surroundings and continuously looking out for others throughout the construction sites.

Marvin is a Gaines and Company operator, whose main responsibilities include reliably moving dirt while prioritizing safe, quality completion of work. His qualifications include OSHA 10, Confined Space Training, and Excavation Safety Training.

“Marvin is one of the safest workers I know,” said Frank Legnaioli, Marvin’s foreman who nominated him for this award. “If he sees something wrong, he immediately reports it to make sure it is fixed before he proceeds.”

Marvin was awarded a Safety Excellence Award certificate, as well as $150 in safety bucks to use on gear in the company’s online safety store. He will also be in contention for the year-end 2021 Safety Excellence Award.

“Marvin is a real team player. Not only does he prioritize safety with his actions and work performance, but he makes sure everyone on his team is safe too,” said Dominic Pope, safety director.

Frank added, “Everybody loves Marvin!”
