Big Gain at Gaines and Company

Progress Makes Way for New Equipment Manager

Gaines and Company welcomes Lance Tancraitor as the new Senior Corporate Equipment Manager to oversee all the mechanics as well as the ever-expanding fleet of earth-moving equipment. Gaines and Company has over 200 pieces of equipment—from wheel and track loaders, bulldozers, pavers, rollers, graders, hydraulic excavators, and off-road trucks—between the Maryland and North Carolina operations. Lance was formerly in a senior position as Corporate Equipment Manager for a highway, asphalt and site developer in the mid-Atlantic region. He brings with him extensive experience—both equipment acquisition and oversight of a large fleet of heavy equipment; from repair and maintenance, to managing the mechanical department.

In recent years, Gaines and Company has grown mainly due to expansion in North Carolina as they work on the on-going site development projects for Route 540 around Raleigh. Mr. Tancraitor specializes in maintenance and repair cost reductions and has a superb track record in safety and preventative maintenance. In addition to overseeing the equipment budgets, Lance will track all equipment inspections and manage [DOT] Department of Transportation regulations which requires ongoing training for the transport of heavy and large off-road equipment. This includes staying updated on the off road and heavy equipment load-specific and cargo tie-down safety requirements for interstate and in-state transport using large flat-bed trucks.

Mr. Tancraitor has already taken a deep dive into assimilation and familiarizing himself with the company, the amazing employees and the large fleet of site development and underground utility construction equipment. “I feel like I am in my zone,” Lance says, “and with great people of this company behind me, I can focus on my job, add to the already amazing Gaines and Company safety culture and contribute to the growth for years to come.”
