Gaines Received Land Development Safety Award From Renowned Homebuilder

Gaines and Company crews prioritize safety, environmental responsibly, and exceptional operations on all projects, including Four Seasons at Kent Island.

Gaines and Company was pleased to accept the K. Hovnanian® Homes Land Development Safety Award during a contractors’ appreciation banquet on January 17 for their exceptional focus on safety throughout the Four Seasons at Kent Island project.

Four Seasons at Kent Island Project

K. Hovnanian® Homes is nationally known for building exceptional new homes since 1959. The Four Seasons at Kent Island project is another K. Hovnanian® Homes success story, and they chose Gaines and Company to be the foundation of that success through its site development services.

Gaines and Company started work on the Four Seasons at Kent Island project in 2015.

The Gaines team – managed by Chief Estimator and Senior Project Manager Eric Boone, Grading Superintendent Jason Glancy, Utility Foreman Pat Dixon, and Grading Foreman Matt Hobbs – works closely with K. Hovnanian® Homes Project Superintendent Rob Shomler to deliver all site grading, excavation, and site utilities for the project, which encompasses hundreds of acres and homesites.

“The development is surrounded by the Chesapeake Bay. That makes a gorgeous location, but creates environmental challenges in the development phase,” said Gaines and Company’s Eric Boone. “Our crews have done a fantastic job upholding protection measures and navigating ground conditions to ensure safe, environmentally responsible operations.”

Land Development Safety Award

The Land Development Safety Award was presented to Gaines and Company against all other regional subcontractors for safely working in and around trenches, as well as overall safety considerations.

“Gaines was selected for the safety award due to their continued commitment and execution of safe practices at our jobsites,” said K. Hovnanian® Homes’s Vice President of Land Development Mike Irons. “Gaines has also excelled during our internal corporate onsite safety audits.”

The Four Seasons at Kent Island project is now in its fourth phase of development with an anticipated completion date of 2026.

“I’m so proud of our team for being recognized for our meticulous safety performance,” said Gaines and Company Vice President David Gaines. “It’s our commitment to safety and operational excellence that earned us our industry-leading reputation over the last 70 years, and how we will ensure success for the next 70 years, as well!”
