North Carolina Utilities Pipelayer Recognized With Safety Award for Safe Work Practices

Forman Kyle Felone said: “Carl always makes sure the crew is working safely, from the time they enter the job site to when they leave for the day. I can count on him to make sure that operations are performed safely. He is happy to teach new crew members about safe work practices and always makes sure the job is safe prior to starting work.”

Safety Director Dominic Pope said: “Carl always makes sure the trench is safe before getting into it. He knows what depth he needs a ladder and how a trench should be sloped. If necessary, he will even measure the trench to make sure it is done correctly before he gets in it. If there is an issue, he reports it to ensure it is fixed before the crew begins work. I love when he trains new employees because I know he is looking out for their safety.”

Gaines and Company is proud of its groundbreaking safety excellence program. In both the Maryland and North Carolina divisions, a Safety Excellence Achievement Award is given on a quarterly basis to employees who go above and beyond in their dedication to safety. All quarterly awardees are eligible for the Year-End Safety Excellence Award recognition.
