Recommitting to Safe Work this Safe + Sound

Gaines crews meet regularly to discuss specific project tasks, ensuring all hazards are recognized and mitigated prior to work.

This Safe + Sound Week (running August 10-16), Gaines & Company is not only celebrating our award-winning Safety Program, but the people who make our safety culture one of the best in the industry.

From training and orientation to our Safety Excellence Program, we invest time and resources into prioritizing safe work. And it truly makes a difference! Our safety culture has been recognized by industry organizations and customers, including:

“We are known for doing a good job because of our employees,” said Safety Director Dominic Pope. “Safety and production run side by side. It took a culture change at first, but we have that culture now, and our entire organization is committed to not only keeping it, but enhancing it every day.”

Gaines’s Safety Excellence Program recognizes those who go above and beyond for safety, keeping it fun and top of mind.

That is our message this Safe + Sound Week as we recommit to keeping ourselves and each other safe. However, in an industry where policies and procedures don’t change much, it can sometimes be hard to keep that mentality fresh and exciting. Gaines crews have learned how to resolve this as a team.

“We talk about real-life industry stories to make the severe, potential consequences of unsafe work hit close to home,” added Dominic. “We also try to make it fun by using games, prizes, and food (of course!) during safety meetings.”

What is a safety meeting without food?!

“We look at safety as a team goal,” said Safety Manager Tommy Trent. “Gaines doesn’t make anyone work unsafely. In fact, from our peers to leadership, we go above and beyond to make sure employees have the tools, equipment, training, and support to be safe in their work all day, every day.”

“No one wants to see anyone get hurt,” added Dominic. “We speak up, engage, and work safely as a team. One Gaines & Company; One Safety Culture.”
