Maryland Safety Award Recipient Robert Wilson – Shop Safety Mentor

Robert Wilson is the Q4 2019 Gaines and Company Maryland safety recognition recipient. He is presented with the Safety Excellence award for outstanding safety achievements.
Stands out in safety because: Robert mentors shop mechanic new hires specifically on safety issues. He takes the time to inform them about safe welding and grinding procedures, always providing them with proper PPE.
What he does: Robert is a shop mechanic working with Gaines and Company for five years. He maintains different types of heavy construction equipment including excavators, trucks and tractor trailers, ensuring all safety apparatus is on the unit and in functional condition. Robert updates, modifies and changes each machine per the manufacturer’s required safety specifications. He also checks levers, lifts, jacks and vehicles used to move equipment for safety.

Training & Certifications: Robert’s daily duties are categorized under OSHA’s general industry and horizontal He is certified in First Aid/CPR, pinch point, crushing hazards, machine guarding and as a forklift driver.

2019 was a phenomenal year in safety for Gaines and Company, a full service grading and excavation company.
